Mike McMullen decided early in his working life that he wanted three things from his career: financial freedom, work he loved, and to contribute positively and meaningfully to the lives of others.
After college graduation, Mike explored an industrial sales career, but quickly found it unsatisfying. After considerable contemplation, he decided that a career in law would be the avenue to his career goals… until a part-time job at the YMCA changed his career path irreversibly. Working at the YMCA, Mike noticed that the wealthy major donors to the YMCA had one thing in common: they all held substantial real estate investments.
Immediately, Mike sought to purchase property. As soon as he was able, he converted that first home (which he used as his primary residence first) to a rental property and bought his second home.
In the meantime, Mike invested in a chain of six dry cleaning stores with his father and sister. The dry cleaning business took off and they quickly had 13 stores and 72 employees. All was going well in their growing business until… they lost everything. The economic downturn of the early 2000’s caused Mike and his family to lose their entire dry cleaning business – their livelihood and virtually all of their assets were taken in the business failure. All that was left were two commercial buildings they purchased during their dry cleaning business days.
It was this experience of literally being saved by property ownership that convinced Mike that real estate investing was a powerful way to ensure his own financial security and freedom. As a result, Mike decided to focus all of his energy on real estate. He obtained the appropriate licensure and launched his real estate career. Immediately, Mike began to research the most lucrative real estate markets so that he could increase his own real estate investment portfolio, all with the explicit goal of securing the financial security of his family for the many years ahead - and into the next generations. Mike was determined to create Financial Freedom for his family and his children’s families.
Friends, family and clients were watching the exciting growth of Mike’s real estate investment portfolio. They began to ask questions, then requesting that Mike help facilitate their own real estate investments. Pretty soon, Mike was the #1 Remax agent in the southeast and in the top 500 real estate agents nationally because he was selling so much real estate, the vast majority of which were investment properties modeled after his own real estate investment portfolio. Mike had made so many investments himself, he had the system streamlined. He knew where to buy property, he knew what to look for in a lender, and what kind of property management company would make the investment the most turn-key possible. It was no longer simply a real estate transaction between Mike and his clients – it was truly an investment transation.
That is how Equity Found, Inc. was born. Equity Found, Inc. was born out of the desire to share with others the simple, lucrative, turn-key way to build a powerful long-term real-estate investment portfolio.
Today, Equity Found, Inc. facilitates 150-200 real estate purchases every year.
